Velvet Odysseys
Here I lay me down to sleep,
under skies of velvet deep;
moonlit wishes twinkle and dance,
reminiscent of childhood innocence.
Here is where I must begin.
For the day’s end meets tomorrow’s sin,
to embark on Aphrodite’s odyssey
of love and lust and adultery.
Here I rest my solemn brow,
eve’s quester for the ‘morrow.
The sea is still; Poseidon dreams.
I shared the nectar with Selene.
Here I lay me down to sleep,
under skies of velvet deep.
When I wake, still I dream,
beheld by morning’s golden gleam
